Adding solar panels

Image
It's quite difficult to find space on a small sailing boat to add solar panels, but I worked out I could add two 50w panels on the hatch if I extended it by about 20cm. This was my first time going fibreglass and gel coat work on my boat. I formed the sheet on glass and then cut the hatch in the middle and added the formed piece in the middle. I still need to do the sides of the hatch properly but learned quite a lot in the process (including cutting from the back of fibre glass/gel coat doesn't hack the gel coat, but cutting from the front does!)

Night sail or evening sail...

Image
As the sun was setting we left the marina… Apart from the fun of a night sail (or evening sail if you prefer), the aim was to introduce two people to the joys of trying to see navigation lights of marina and port at night among the light pollution of the shore… it's not easy!

Sunday -- was it a sail or a swim?

Image
Was it a sail or a swim? It was a swim! This was a brief time out after church as much as anything to let Elisabeth have a swim... with her sisters. But what surprised us was the number of boats at the anchorage. I think we counted about 23 boats. And Katie wanted me to slo-mo her doing a cannonball!  Katie riding back to the marina at the bow through the waves.

Gentle sail

Seems sitting at the bow is the favourite place!

Back sailing…

11 mile day sail. 3rd sail after the Cyprus lockdown!   In the way things happen with God… I was about to send a message to Derek asking him if he wanted to sail on Saturday. Just as I was going to do that I had a message from his wife asking if we were free to meet up on Saturday as they were coming to Larnaka for an airport run! So Derek and I went out for a day sailing together… and a very enjoyable day it was too!
